UPCOMING COMPETITIONS…
The deadline for all the competitions below is MONDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER. Entries can be given in to either your Form Tutor, your House Captain (Danny) or to Mrs. Griffiths.
LAMBDIN T-SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION
In response to popular demand from Lambdin students, we will be getting Lambdin House t-shirts or polo shirts this year and it is only right that the design for these t-shirts comes from you!
If you have any ideas for the design of our house shirts, or are feeling creative and would like to see your ideas made into reality, then make sure you submit an entry for this competition! The best design (decided by Tutors and House Captains) will be used on the t-shirts.
You might want to consider incorporating some of the following elements:
- the House colour (Green – although perhaps a different shade to the WBS sports green)
- the House name
- space for our logo and motto (to be decided)
- the school motto (’Uno Animo’)
LAMBDIN LOGO COMPETITION
If you’re artisitic and fancy creating a crest/coat of arms for our House, then offer a design idea for our House logo!
You might want to consider incorporating some of these ideas:
The Lambdin Family crest (can be found at the this link http://www.4crests.com/lambdin-family-crest-coat-arms.html)
The Coat of Arms for the West Yorkshire Regiment, with which Lambdin fought (can be found at… )
LAMBDIN MOTTO COMPETITION
We’re also in need of an inspiring motto for Lambdin House; just a few words that will summarise what we stand for, and aspire to, as a House and as a team - something that our students can buy into and will drive them on in House activities. Any inspiring ideas in English (or even traditional Latin!) should be submitted… you never know, you may just have the perfect motto.
LAMBDIN YEAR CAPTAINS
This year we will have a Lambdin Year Captains from Yrs 9, 10 and 11 who will support Danny, our House Captain, in the running of the House. Your year captain will take your ideas and opinions about how our House should be run to the House Council and the School Council, so make sure you vote wisely for someone who will take responsibility for gathering opinions from those in his year, who cares about your school experience and who will be confident enough to tell others what students want. Students who are nominated will be interviewed for the role.
Votes for Year Captains will be cast on the following days:
Yr 10 & 11 – Thursday 11th September. Interviews on Wednesday 17th September.
Yr 9 – Thursday 18th September. Interviews on Wednesday 24th September.
HOUSE PAINTBALLING TRIP
This will take place on Wednesday 24th September, after school. Any Lambdin students are welcome to come, with payment; you just need to give your name to your Form Tutor. Those Lambdin students who have the best Attitude to Learning and Attendance grades in the House will get a free trip; if this is you, you will be told by your Form Tutor or by Mrs. Griffiths.
HOUSE PHOTO
This will take place during morning registration on Wednesday 17th September. Please ensure that you are prompt to registration (you should be in your tutor room by 8.40am) and remember to BRING YOUR SCHOOL BLAZER. Your Form Tutor will take your whole tutor group down to have the photo taken.
INTER-TUTOR GROUP FOOTBALL COMPETITION
This will take place on Friday 19th September, after school, on the Astroturf. I hope as many of you as possible will come along, as it will be an excellent opportunity to mix with other Lambdin students and to get to know those in your tutor group better.
Anyone who wants to come will need to give their names to their Form Tutor along with 50p so that we can provide drinks for you. Anyone who just wants to come and watch, rather than play football, is more than welcome.
